When Ward Burton parted ways with Bill Davis Racing, it wasn’t under the most comfortable of circumstances.
There was bad blood, and Burton felt the loyalty he’d shown the team wasn’t returned. Still, Burton lived by The Code, a deeply ingrained sense of right and wrong that he’d learned from a young age.
If that meant sticking by his word, even when the world might be turning upside down, then so be it.
