Michael Waltrip Brewing Company, founded by two-time Daytona 500 champion, Michael Waltrip, announced the opening of a new brewery and taproom in Bristol, Virginia, with plans to produce Waltrip‘s “Two-Time” lineup of lagers and ales for distribution throughout the Southeast region of the country.

“I am very enthusiastic to share this great news with so many friends and followers in this part of the country who have asked and waited for over the last year about where they could enjoy or purchase my beer,” Waltrip said.  “I can say now it‘s coming soon!  We‘ll brew our fabulous beers, and also open a taproom with a great kitchen along with an event space to accommodate special gatherings.”

Added Waltrip: “We‘re making the styles of beer that I love to drink whether I‘m at the track, golf course or just relaxing. It‘s going to be great to share my beers with everyone in Bristol and all over the Southeastern part of the country.”

Michael Waltrip Brewing Company will open the first two floors of the former Studio Brew location in downtown Bristol at 221 Moore St.   The company will occupy 10,000 square feet of the historical building that was originally constructed in 1910 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Plans include adding a covered patio and a beer garden for special events.

Anticipated opening is early to mid-summer this year.  All three signature brews of Michael Waltrip‘s Two-Time lineup will be produced in Bristol: a “Blonde” Ale; “Checkered Past,” a coconut India Pale Ale; and “Vamanos,” a Mexican-style Lager.  Each beer has a special story behind it and some clever, subtle references to racing, capitalizing on the personality of its fun loving, eponymous founder beloved by fans.

Plans are in place to also produce seasonal varieties and taproom-specific beers and seltzers that will be unique just to visitors.

Bryan Sperber, President & CEO, Michael Waltrip Brewing Co., said: “We are so excited to be coming to Bristol. Racing is in our company‘s DNA and Bristol is one of the most important racing capitals in the world. Michael has enjoyed success at Bristol Motor Speedway and to now be part of this community is really special. We look forward to sharing Michael‘s beers and seltzers with our new friends in Virginia and throughout the region.”

Michael Waltrip Brewing Co. was launched in March 2020, with a mission to produce great tasting beers with an attitude that is unmistakably fun — like Michael himself.  The company headquarters is in Phoenix and the Two-Time lineup is distributed in multiple western states, including Arizona, Idaho, Oregon and Wyoming.
