Earlier this year, New Smyrna Speedway tech official Rusty Crews passed away after suffering a medical episode following his attempts to break up a fight during a World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing event at New Smyrna Speedway.
This year, DGM Racing has honored Crews’ life, as he was part of the team since its early years. On multiple occasions, his name has been put on the hood of Josh Williams’ car, if the No. 92 car didn’t have sponsorship for that weekend.
For Throwback Weekend at Darlington Raceway, Williams will take it one step further. His No. 92 car will have the same paint scheme that Crews ran in Figure 8 style racing at Auburndale Speedway in Winter Haven, Fla. The car was also ran at Lakeland Speedway.
We’re throwing it back and honoring a friend this year at @TooToughToTame for the @NASCAR Throwback Weekend!
