Robert Lee Riffle, Sr., 81, of Mooresville passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at his residence.

He was born January 22, 1940 in Columbus, OH to the late Harvey Everett Riffle and Genevieve Buckalew Riffle. Robert was a member of Williamson‘s Chapel United Methodist Church in Mooresville and retired from the auto racing industry. He enjoyed gardening and racing, and loved his wife, children and grandchildren.

A celebration of life to celebrate Robert‘s life will be held at a later date.

Bob was the Head Engine Builder at Petty Enterprises from 1991-1994.  He also was an engine builder at Roush Racing for Mark Martin and Ted Musgrave, and also built engines at Pro Motor, including Ricky Rudd‘s 1997 Brickyard 400 engine.

Prior to NASCAR, he was a drag racer, both as a driver and engine builder.  He was a 2 time winner of the US Nationals and built Pro Stock engines.
