Hendrick Motorsports announced on Friday that Alex Bowman has signed a two-year contract to remain at Hendrick Motorsports through 2023.
Bowman will continue to be sponsored by Ally, driving the No. 48 Chevrolet. The announcement comes on the same weekend in which Ally is the title sponsor of the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway.
Since 2016, Bowman has been linked to Hendrick Motorsports. That year, he ran 10 Cup races replacing Dale Earnhardt Jr., who sat out the second half of the season. In 2018, Bowman took over the full-time driving duty of the No. 88 Chevrolet.
Last October, Bowman was announced as the driver to take over the No. 48 car, formerly driven by seven-time Cup champion, Jimmie Johnson.
Since joining Hendrick Motorsports as a full-time driver, Bowman has scored four Cup wins, including two earlier this year at Richmond Raceway and Dover International Speedway.
With Bowman signed, all four of HMS’ drivers — Bowman, Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and William Byron — are signed through the 2022 season.
Cue the confetti!
Let‘s continue to #DoItRight! Thank you @AllyRacing and @TeamHendrick https://t.co/mefnlIN3hL
