As Bob Pockrass noted on Twitter, according to the NASCAR Xfinity Series crew rosters for this weekend’s race at Road America, Ty Gibbs will be driving a fifth Joe Gibbs Racing entry.
Kyle Busch will be competing in the team’s No. 54 ride, while JGR is entering the No. 81 Toyota for Gibbs. Road America will be Busch’s fourth Xfinity start of the season, as he’s using the race to get more laps at the famed road course. Previously, he’s never competed in an event at Road America.
Meanwhile, back in February when JGR announced Gibbs’ 2021 Xfinity schedule, Road America was on the list. Chris Gayle, primary crew chief of the No. 54 will join Gibbs on the No. 81 team, while Mark McFarland will crew chief Busch.
In the Xfinity race this weekend at Road America, Kyle Busch will be in the No. 54 and Ty Gibbs will be in the No. 81 JGR car (a fifth JGR car). Gibbs will have Chris Gayle as crew chief (Gayle typically does the 54); Mark McFarland will crew chief for KyBusch in the 54.
