Ima Jean Wood McDuffie, age 83, of Sanford, NC, died Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Sanford Manor Memory Care.
Jean was born in Moore County, NC on June 4, 1938 to the late Carmie Esley Wood and Esther Elbertie McLawhorn Wood. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband John Delphus “J.D.” McDuffie, Jr.; brother Raymond Wood and sister Carolyn Randolph.
She is survived by son Jeffrey Wayne McDuffie, Sr. of Sanford, NC; daughter Linda Karen McDuffie and wife Wendy North McDuffie of Denver, CO; sisters Nadine Borjeson of Raleigh, Edith Grant of Lemon Springs, Inas Edgars of Lemon Springs, Ann Suddreth of Carthage; grandchildren Jeffrey Wayne McDuffie, Jr. of Sanford; Christine Rodriguez and husband Rudy of CA and two great-grandchildren.
Jean was a partner to her husband‘s racing career. J.D. raced for NASCAR 28 years and Jean was by his side. She loved to garden, sing and paint award winning scenery. Her greatest joy was her family.
The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 12th at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Altman Officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Buffalo Cemetery.
