Walt Czarencki, executive vp, Penske Corp. and vice chairman of Team Penske confirmed on Thursday that the team has no current plans to field an Xfinity Series car for the 2022 season.

The team is coming off consecutive Championship 4 appearances with Austin Cindric, winning the 2020 championship. Cindric has moved to the Cup Series to drive the No. 2 Ford.

Since joining the Xfinity Series, Cindric had 13 wins in 133 starts. Team Penske has fielded at least one full-time Xfinity Series car since 2009. In 664 Xfinity starts, the team has 81 victories, with the last coming at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in August.

Team Penske has no current plans to race in Xfinity this year. If a sponsor comes along, they would participate, according to team executive Walt Czarencki.
