Ty Gibbs was knocked out of the lead on the final lap of the second overtime restart Friday at Martinsville Speedway, then tried to do some knocking of his own post-race.

Contact with Sam Mayer coming out of Turn 4 sent Gibbs, battling for the lead, up and into the wall and set off a post-race incident that ended with Gibbs throwing punches.

Gibbs attempted to spin Mayer‘s car on the cool-down lap, and then immediately approached Mayer on pit road.

Mayer took his helmet off during an animated conversation between the two before Gibbs threw punches. The two were then separated by officials on pit road.
