Two crew members from Joe Gibbs Racing‘s No. 54 Toyota team for rookie Ty Gibbs were issued suspensions Tuesday after a wheel detached from the car during last Sunday‘s NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Gibbs and the No. 54 team were penalized on Lap 216 of the 267-lap South Point 400, shortly after his scrape of the Turn 2 wall forced the race‘s seventh caution period. The right-front wheel came off as he limped through Turns 3 and 4, and Gibbs was held for two laps on pit road.
