NASCAR Weekend Forecast Discussion
Michigan International Speedway
12:20 PM EDT @MISpeedway #NASCAR #weather update: Partly cloudy, 79°F, SSW winds, 18 mph, gusting to 33 mph Rain is moving across western Michigan - Will potentially impact today’s ARCA on-track plans. Rain chances continue into SAT morning - yes, potentially canceling yet another qualifying (Trucks) session. By SAT afternoon, the forecast is looking good thru SUN
MIS enters the weekend under a transition pattern as a cold front approaches from the Upper Midwest while a strengthening ridge remains established across the eastern United States. Warm and increasingly humid conditions are expected throughout the weekend, though the atmosphere will become progressively more favorable for scattered showers and thunderstorms as the front draws closer.
The greatest forecast challenge centers on the timing and coverage of any convective activity, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. While widespread washout conditions are not anticipated, race teams, fans, and officials should monitor radar trends closely as localized thunderstorms could develop within the warm and unstable air mass. Temperatures will remain above seasonal averages, with increasing humidity potentially becoming a greater factor than the heat itself. Overall, the weekend appears favorable for on-track activities, but with a growing need to watch for weather interruptions as the event progresses.

More about Michigan International Speedway
Michigan International Speedway (MIS) is a 2 mi (3.219 km) moderate-banked D-shaped speedway located off U.S. Highway 12 on more than 1,400 acres (5.7 km2) approximately four-mile (6.4 km) south of the village of Brooklyn, in the scenic Irish Hills area of southeastern Michigan. The track is 70-mile (110 km) west of the center of Detroit, 40-mile (64 km) from Ann Arbor and 60 miles (97 km) south and northwest of Lansing and Toledo, Ohio respectively. The track is used primarily for NASCAR events. It is sometimes known as a sister track to Texas World Speedway, and was used as the basis of Auto Club Speedway.
Michigan International Speedway is recognized as one of motorsports’ premier facilities because of its wide racing surface and high banking (by open-wheel standards; the 18-degree banking is modest by stock car standards). Michigan is the fastest track in NASCAR due to its wide, sweeping corners, long straightaways, and lack of a restrictor plate requirement; typical qualifying speeds are in excess of 200 mph (320 km/h) and corner entry speeds are anywhere from 215 to 220 mph (346 to 354 km/h) after the 2012 repaving of the track.
