Erik Jones is currently in his first season with Richard Petty Motorsports.
While the original news release stated that Jones had signed a multi-year agreement, apparently Richard Petty Motorsports has an option for the deal to continue beyond 2021.
Discussions between Jones and RPM have begun.
Erik Jones says he has had talks with RPM about picking up his option. He said he is happy driving for team and working on things to get better results. But sounded like where he lands for 2022 still uncertain.
