Aaron Studwell, PH.D.

Founder & Lead Researcher
Founder & Lead Researcher Aaron Studwell completed his PhD in Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Houston. His research focused on planetary atmospheres, specifically, Saturn’s global-scale dynamics and long-term patterns.

After completing his doctoral work, Dr. Studwell founded ExoConsulting in Norman, Oklahoma. He has over twenty years of experience in energy weather, motorsports, and marine forecasting, along with air quality meteorology. Aaron was one of the first meteorologists in the energy trading sector, working in senior research and forecasting roles. In 2003, he founded RaceWeather providing accurate forecasts and timely race weekend updates to the NASCAR community. Before returning to academia full-time in 2019, he was the Marine Team Lead for DTN-Wilkens Weather, where he oversaw the company’s marine forecasting operations in their Houston, Texas office.

Aaron graduated from Texas A&M University with a Master of Science in Meteorology and from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He holds active memberships in the American Geophysical Union and the American Meteorological Society.

Stevie Thompson

Marketing and Social Media Coordinator
Ms. Stevie Thompson joined ExoConsulting in November 2020 as our Marketing and Social Media Coordinator. Her responsibilities include developing and implementing our marketing strategy. Additionally, she will develop and distribute innovative social media content designed to engage our client base.

Since 2018, Ms. Thompson has worked as a freelance artist, creating marketing graphics in the Oklahoma City area. She is presently working on her Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. Away from work, she enjoys family, photography, and painting.

Rob Tiongson

Mr. Rob Tiongson is a motorsports journalist who has covered NASCAR since 2008. As one of the first and original Featured Columnists for Bleacher Report's NASCAR coverage from 2008 to 2010, Rob established ThePodiumFinish.net (TPF) in 2010. Additionally, Rob is a Contributor for NASCAR Pole Position and the Out of the Groove Weekly Viewer's Guide, a position he's held since 2020. Also, Rob serves as the ARCA Editor and Writer for Frontstretch.com, a position he's held since 2021.

Outside of the journalism world, Rob enjoys working out, debating the merits of what constitutes great music (anything from the 1950s-early '90s is played on his Spotify playlist) while adjusting to life as a Yankee (he's really a Boston Red Sox fan) in Austin, Texas.

Mark Sweeney

Operational Meteorologist
Mark Sweeney joined ExoConsulting in March 2021 as a Meteorologist Intern and is currently working towards his Bachelor of Science degree from Valparaiso University with a desire to do operational meteorology. His responsibilities will be to assist with motorsport forecasts, particularly IMSA and NHRA.

Mark is an enthusiastic fan of racing and is a skilled violinist. He holds an active membership in the American Meteorological Society.

Meteorologist
Steve has provided tailored forecasts for INDYCAR series races through his “Indycar Weatherman” twitter account (@Indycar_Wxman) since 2012, providing his followers site-specific weather information and timely updates with a focus on operational impacts to track and event activities. Steve graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor in Science in Meteorology in 2000 and has over 20 years of forecasting and leadership experience in the meteorological career field to include aviation, resource protection, tropical, climate, and space weather products and support for locations around the world. He also previously served as an advisory board member to the University of Arizona’s Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences department. He currently resides in Tampa, FL.
