According to Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, Brett Moffitt has changed the series he will be competing for points in, now running for the 2021 Xfinity Series championship.
Moffitt will start acquiring points this weekend at Talladega Sueprspeedway, the same place he scored his first top-five finish in Xfinity last season. Because Moffitt has competed in all seven Xfinity races this season, he’s eligible for the playoffs.
In six Camping World Truck Series races this season, Moffitt, running full time for Niece Motorsports, was sitting 15th in the championship standings, 39 points below the cutoff.
During the 2021 Xfinity season, Our Motorsports has seen an uptick in performance, currently ranking 14th in the owner standings. Moffitt has a best finish of second — in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway — and a trio of top-10 results.
Brett Moffitt has changed his series declaration for points … Moffitt will start earning Xfinity points this weekend. He has raced in all races so is eligible for playoffs. He starts this weekend with 0 Xfinity points. His truck points reset to 0 (and he stops earning points).
