After hinting earlier in the week that he was close to securing a ride for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America on July 3, Andy Lally announced he will be competing for BJ McLeod Motorsports.
Lally has ran in all three road course races thus far this season, including a start for BJMM at the Daytona International Speedway road course in February, finishing 31st. Last weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, he piloted the No. 23 Our Motorsports Chevrolet to a fifth-place finish, tying his career best result.
In 16 career Xfinity starts, Lally has recorded a top-10 finish 50% of the time. With his upcoming start at Road America, 2021 will be the season in which he’s ran his most Xfinity races in a single season.
Lally confirmed on Twitter that he will run a throwback paint scheme, though the team currently has no primary sponsorship for Road America.
I love a good underdog story! @TeamBJMcLeod and I are going for it in the @NASCAR_Xfinity race at Road America… and he is letting me pick out a throwback scheme 😎 #NASCAR The car is wide open at the moment so throwback ideas and sponsors are welcome!
