After being suspended for four races earlier on Wednesday, Ryan Sieg Racing has parted ways with veteran crew chief Shane Wilson, and won’t appeal his penalty.

During Saturday’s Pennzoil 150 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, the No. 39 Ford lost its left rear tire, bringing out a caution. Under the rule of “any action or omission by a competitor or vehicle that creates an unsafe environment or poses a threat to the safety of the Competitors, as determined by NASCAR,” Wilson was suspended.

After leading the No. 39 team in 2019, Wilson jumped to David Gilliland Racing in 2020 to work with Tanner Gray. This season, he returned to crew chief Sieg ahead of Darlington Raceway in May, the ninth race of the season.

Through 21 races, Sieg sits 15th in the driver standings. Kevin “Cowboy” Starland will take over as crew chief.
