Chase Elliott may have caught Kyle Larson on the Cup Series winner market, but oddsmakers are still backing Larson. Last year‘s champion is the favorite to win this weekend‘s Ally 400, making it 12 of 18 races, 66.7%, that Larson has been favored to win this season.
Larson is given +450 odds, or an implied 18.2% chance that he wins the Ally 400. Kyle Busch is expected to be his main competition with +750 odds, or an implied 11.8% chance to win the race. Chase Elliot and Ross Chastain aren‘t far behind at +800, or an implied 11.1% chance.
Denny Hamlin is also given +1000 odds to win his third race this season. He‘s third favorite to win the Cup Series this year despite currently sitting 21st in the standings.
Quote from OddsChecker spokesman Kyle Newman, “Kyle Larson is the biggest favorite to win a race in nearly two months. The last time a driver was given at least +450 odds to win a race was Larson at the DuraMAX Drydene 400. So, just one week after Chase Elliott caught him on one odds market, oddsmakers expect Larson to break that tie by taking home his second win of the season. Not unsurprising considering how much love oddsmakers have shown Larson all season. After all, it‘s incredibly rare that a driver be favored to win two-thirds of the races in a season.”
