A festive and fun holiday event for kids and adults alike, Cars & Cocoa at Sonoma Raceway on Saturday, December 10 offers plenty of free activities for the kids and the chance for adults to drive their car on track or show it off in the car show. With fire truck rides, hot cocoa and a LEGO building station, this event is just about as exciting as a visit from Santa, who will also be onsite for photos with the kids! Attendance is free, participation in the Laps for Charity and car show requires registration with all proceeds going to support Sonoma non-profits by way of Speedway Children‘s Charities Sonoma, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway.

Kicking off the morning will be a car show for the adults and a LEGO “Build & Race” station for the little ones. Adults can register to show off their sweet ride at the car show, and as an added upgrade covered garages are available when registering. Space is limited, so sign up early. Kids can get in on the fun by building and showing off their LEGO creations then racing them in a friendly competition.

Getting on the race track has never been easier or more fun. “Laps for Charity” gives participants 18 years of age and older the opportunity to drive their own street legal vehicle for three lead-follow laps around the famous 2.52-mile 12-turn Sonoma Raceway road course. Registered drivers will follow a professional instructor, must sign a waiver and may have passengers if they are also at least 18 years old. As a bonus, registration includes a photo of the car on track.

Children who also wish to experience track time have a great opportunity this year as little ones can get a ride on a Schell-Vista firetruck and have their own safe lap around the track.

Sometimes the things that mean the most can‘t be bought, and the “Cards for COTS” program, supported by a Speedway Children‘s Charities grant is one of them. Kids and adults have the opportunity to write or draw a Christmas card to help bring joy to the residents of Committee on the Shelterless (COTS). Holiday cards and coloring pages will be available for anyone to write encouraging messages that will be delivered to COTS Kids First Family Shelter following the event. There are other great free activities to take advantage of, such as taking a photo with Santa and enjoying a hot cup of cocoa.
