Fifth Third Bank will surprise the families of babies born in select local hospitals on May 3, 2023 with a gift of $1,053 to open a 529 college savings account. May 3 is a day celebrated by Fifth Third, as it is 5/3 on the calendar.
Just a few weeks ahead of Mother‘s Day, the Bank will also present the new parents with care packages that include a DoorDash gift card, and gifts for the baby including a onesie, milestone blanket and diapers.
Hospital leaders, Fifth Third Bank Regional President Lee Fite and Chris Buescher, Driver of the No. 17 Fifth Third Bank Mustang in the NASCAR Cup Series, will be available for photos, videos and interviews. This will take place on May 3 with specific times and locations to be disclosed later.
In addition to wanting to give back to communities and families on Fifth Third Day, Fifth Third understands the cost of college and wants to provide a head start, literally on day 1. Student debt has more than doubled over the last two decades and more than 1 million North Carolina residents have student debt, making it the state with the tenth highest number of borrowers in the U.S.
Since Fifth Third Day in 2017, the Bank has gifted 399 babies with $1,053 to go toward any 529 college savings account, in partnership with the Gift of College. This year, Fifth Third will also be celebrating Fifth Third Day Babies in Louisville.
