MBM Motorsports announced on Friday that it withdrew its No. 66 entry from Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This will be the first time since 2015 that team owner Carl Long has not entered a car into an Xfinity Series race.
MBM credited its decision to withdraw based on not having simulator time, and with no practice, the team wouldn’t know the speed it has until qualifying. Should qualifying get canceled due to weather, which it has the last three Atlanta races, the No. 66 team would be the team not competing, as it sits 44th in the owner standings.
The No. 66 car has qualified into six races this season, with Timmy Hill earning the team its best finish of 30th at Dover Motor Speedway. Chad Finchum, who was slated to drive the No. 66 car this weekend, will now drive it at New Hampshire Motor Speedway next week.
