Spire Motorsports is in the process of purchasing Live Fast Motorsports’ No. 78 charter for approximately $40 million, according to Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic.

The purchase would give Spire three charters entering the 2024 NASCAR season, with C0rey LaJoie piloting the No. 7 Chevrolet and a new driver expected for its No. 77 entry.

Zane Smith is the leading candidate to drive Spire’s new car, and has an announcement scheduled for 5 p.m. ET on Saturday. Trackhouse Racing also has a press conference scheduled for the same time. The move would allow Trackhouse to farm its driver to a different team, Spire, for the 2024 season.
